A-Gas Announced as ACR News Awards Finalist

We are delighted to announce that A-Gas Rapid Recovery are finalists at this year’s ACR News Awards in the Environmental Initiative Category!

The event will be held on Thursday 26 March 2020 at the Chelsea Harbour Hotel, London.

The Environmental Initiatives category focuses on projects that have benefited our environment, for example, developing carbon reduction and energy efficiency programmes, through to improved methodology and processes.

This award is open to any environmental initiative or project implemented after November 1, 2018. This could be a project, a service, a marketing plan, internal initiative or any scheme or procedure that might be considered to have environmental benefits.

The Project

In 2017, A-Gas Rapid Recovery was launched in the UK, bringing a vastly improved recovery service – in terms of speed and a wider range of applications – to the RAC industry.

The F-Gas quota step-downs mean that high GWP refrigerants need to be retrofitted with lower GWP alternatives. This is a huge task for the industry and one that needs to be completed to be on the road to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions globally.

With an estimate that more than 2000 supermarkets would require retrofit activity before 2020 to meet the F-Gas challenge, the planned store retrofit programmes were placing considerable pressure on RAC contractor resources to get the job done due to significant time constraints and disruption to the business as usual.

To date, A-Gas Rapid Recovery has played a key role in several large-scale refrigerant retrofits, seeing large quantities of high GWP refrigerants being removed efficiently, while the businesses has continued to operate as usual.

The Innovation

By adopting A-Gas Rapid Recovery’s next generation approach to reclamation, contractors have been able to transform their recovery process and recover product up to 10 times faster than the standard recovery machine. This approach utilises a network of recovery vehicles and engineers who provide national coverage to contractors at short notice. The A-Gas Rapid Recovery team take care of all aspects of the work from start to finish, including job site reporting.

This innovative approach to recovery illustrates how working together and using next generation concepts and technologies can help our industry make the move to lower GWP refrigerants efficiently and effectively.

We are honoured to be finalists for this award, congratulations and good luck to all the other finalists.
